Three glorious days in South Iceland! We travel through the Golden Circle, the South Shore and all the way to the Glacier Lagoon in the South-East. If you’re only in Iceland for a few days, this is perfect!
Here’s a rough itinerary:
We start with the ever popular Golden Circle. Geysir the geyser, thundering Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir, where the tectonic plates are ripping apart Iceland. We highly recommend having a soak at the Secret Lagoon as well (not to be confused with the Blue one).
Why not have a late start and avoid most of the crowds? We have dinner somewhere along the way and end up on the South coast.
The South coast with all its waterfalls and glaciers. We visit 2 stunning waterfalls on our journey as well as the black beach Reynisfjara, where you can admire the basalt rock columns towering over the black sand. In summer we stop at Dyrhólaey and see if we can spot some puffins. Interested in adding some glacier activities like ice walking or snowmobiling? Let us know and we’ll take care of it (availability depends on the season).
We move east along the south coast towards the Glacier Lagoon. Along the way we cross the black sands of the south, the worlds largest outwash plains. At the Glacier Lagoon we recommend taking a boat ride on one of their large amphibian vehicles (summer only).
We head back to Reykjavik and visit some of the sights we skipped on the way to the Glacier Lagoon. We might visit a beautiful canyon, waterfalls, amazing viewpoints and more.
